Wat Pha Sorn Kaew
One of the most unique & colorful temples in Thailand!
Wat Pha Sorn Kaew, or temple on the glass cliff, is an absolutely breathtaking and intricately detailed Buddhist monastery and temple in Thailand. This temple is full of vibrant colors and over 5 MILLION mosaic tiles. Every inch of this temple is decorated beautifully. This was personally my favorite temple to visit in Thailand because of all the unique details and colors. The five Buddahs are stunning and make this meditation retreat feel even more serene. It was definitely very picture-worthy and did not disappoint!
I will say getting here can be a bit challenging. This temple is about 6 hours from both Bangkok and Chiang Mai, but if you have an extra day, I’d definitely recommend checking this temple out. Hiring a private driver is probably the easiest way to get to this temple if you are coming from one of these bigger cities. From where we stayed in Phitsanulok, Thailand it was about an hour and a half bus ride. However, we weren’t very good at checking the return bus times and only ended up getting to spend 15 minutes at the temple (and had to run and flag our bus down lol) because that was the last bus of the day. As with all temples in Thailand, don’t forget to be respectful of the culture by covering your legs and shoulders and taking your shoes off.
